The Mumbai city’s first match-making bureau exclusively for seniors will be launched on Thursday 11th April 2013
Called Silver Innings Matrimonial & Companionship, it is open to people aged 50 and older, for an annual subscription fee of Rs1,200 , which is 20% discounted as Inaugural offer valid till 30th April 2013 . The actual fees is Rs.1500/- for annual membership.
The idea of the bureau stemmed from the success of last Sunday’s 7th April 2013 'Senior Citizens Jeevan Saathi Sammelan' speed-dating meet for senior citizens, aimed at helping them find live-in partners or spouses.
“Of the 282 people who participated, six have now found potential partners and are pursuing relationships, another couple is considering marriage and four other couples are dating,” said Sailesh Mishra, founder of Silver Inning Foundation, the NGO that co-organised the seminar with Ahmedabad-based Vina Mulya Amulya Seva. “In all, we received 700 applications but could only accommodate 282. This is when we realised that this should be a sustained effort, and decided to start a bureau.”
In addition to helping match senior citizens based on the interests and requirements that they list with the bureau, Silver Innings plans to organise events and parties on a quarterly basis to help them meet, interact and find partners.
Four seniors have already registered. One of them is Sashi Bhatt (name changed on request), 56, a finance consultant and a bachelor.
“At this age, I need a companion whom I can talk to and share my joys and sorrows with,” says Bhatt. “I am not looking at marriage, but would like to be in a live-in relationship. Hence, I thought I should register with the bureau.
